Blackberry Peach Old Fashioned

  • The Cocktail: Blackberry Peach Old Fashioned with Woodford Reserve bourbon, peach preserves, one muddled blackberry, Angostura bitters, and a lemon twist
  • The night: Thursday, 4 November 2011
  • The bartender: Courtney
  • Inspiration/Source: spinoff
  • The taste: The peach jam adds a slight fruit flavor this classic drink which is followed up nicely by the tart blackberry and bitters. It works well for the fall and could even be served up as a side dish to a Thanksgiving dinner!

Leu Garden’s turns 50th – Free Admission this Monday

This year, we are celebrating Leu Gardens’ 50th birthday by giving guests free daytime admission on their birthday. This Monday, November 7, at 10 a.m. we are celebrating Leu Garden’s 50th birthday with a special ceremony and free admission for everyone from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Festivities include a tree dedication by the rose garden, free tree seedlings giveaway (while supplies last) and a free story time event for children five and under. The gardens were started by Harry and Mary Jane Leu, who owned the property from 1936 until they deeded it to the City in 1961. The two traveled extensively and brought home many plants for their grounds, including 240 varieties of camellias. After 50 years, their gardens have become a popular oasis for visitors and residents to enjoy. I invite you to Leu Gardens on Monday for this special occasion. For more information, please visit LeuGardens.org or call 407.246.2620.

Sincerely,

Buddy Dyer Mayor
