This morning, Kat Quast, Hudson and Jennifer Marvel, and I got up around 8AM to plant a second median with Florida-native, drought tolerant plants. (This isn’t entirely true; Audubon Park’s mayor, Kat, drove five long hours to be back in town this morning. She deserves a beer and a pat on the back. But, mostly beer.) The cones calmed traffic a little bit, but drivers didn’t seem to realize there was the possibility of driving in a different lane. This frustrated us, because the streets weren’t particularly busy at such a time on a Sunday morning.
The median in question, which sits across from Palmer’s Garden and Goods, had its grass removed by careful spraying of Roundup by me and digging by Kat, Ezra Waterland, and me. Scott Van Nuys fixed our broken sprinkler heads in all of the medians. Our gratitude goes out to him. He also aided in our efforts to provide water for the community garden. This is our second median planting, and we have seven more to do.
Go take a look!
